What a week we had on the Cape to Cape Track last week! The weather was perfect, the colours were incredible and everyone in the group was happy, supportive of each other and relaxed. We couldn’t have asked for more.
We’ve posted a brief visual diary below. For more photos, visit our Facebook or Flickr pages and look for the Cape to Cape April 2013 albums.
A warm but overcast start to the walk. Highlights were the wonderful clifftop views – including seeing 50 or so dolphins playing in the waves!
A lovely day with beach, clifftops, and amazing rust-red granite headlands. And one very large sand dune. A perfect place for Jennifer to lead us in some motivational affirmations “Every day in every way I’m getting better and better and better…”
The rocks got better and better too! Wilyabrub Cliffs offered stunning photo opportunities and “siesta rock” gave the group a chance to swim and lounge about like they were on a tropical island. Pina colada anyone?
We had Jane Scott, President of the Friends of Cape to Cape Track with us as we enjoyed a very varied day – including an extended inland section where we met a Southern Heath Monitor waiting to pose for photos.
Another varied day with woodland, beach, cliffs and the cool karri forest to end the day. The highlight for me was the vibrant colour of the water. A special thanks to Jeanette for wearing pink – because the below photo is one of my favourites of all time.
Some beautiful beach sections gave us the opportunity for a few swims today – although some didn’t last long in the water at Hamelin Bay when they realised they were sharing the sea with the resident sting rays.
Blowholes, beaches, banana cake and beautiful vistas. Some wanted to take it slow and soak it all in, and some wanted to get to the lighthouse before their bodies realised they’d just walked 135 km! It was a great day and everyone was happy and proud to have made it ‘end to end’ on one of the best coastal walk trails in the world.
Well done and thanks for a great week to Chris, Ian, Jan, Jenny, Jennifer, Jeanette, Suzanne, Selina and Liz. It’s an awesome thing you did last week.
